OKLAHOMA!

25th Oct - 2nd Nov 2002

The founding of a new state at the turn of the nineteenth century, when new beginnings were often only for brave settlers in "Injun Country" Where disagreements were settled over a fight, women were winsome and men were men, and Curley and Laurey fall in love. Bring in Ado Annie, torn between sweet-heart Will Parker and exotic Ali Hakim, kindly Aunt Eller and the menacing Jud Fry whose actions play a key part in whether our two lovers find happiness. Songs include:  'Oh,  what a beautiful morning' , 'People will say we're in love', 'Farmer and the Cowman', 'Kansas City','Farmer and Cowman' and Oklahoma!

Bind this together with the wonderfully stirring combination of music and lyrics from Rodgers and Hammerstein for a winning show in the remarkable year - a centenary for Richard Rodgers and an 80th anniversary for HAODS.
