Wind in the Willows

Wind in the Willows

The Wind in the Willows

Written in 1908 in nearby Goring, The Wind in the Willows has been a firm favorite of both young and old in the ensuing years and where could be a better setting than the beautiful riverside gardens of Thamesfield House.

The characters, created by Kenneth Grahame, are real and alive today with their human faults and virtues. Mr Toad, no one knows his real name, is a jovial likable character and although we often despair at his selfish faults, but he is always forgivable. He is lucky to have such friend as Badger, sometimes grumpy but always strong and reliable, the urban Ratty wise and dependable and Mole, who finds joy in all things and loves everyone. We also meet all the other characters of the river and wild wood. Finally no story is complete without the villains and here we have the denizens of the wild wood, the weasels and stoats.
